CWL Presents Weiting Bollu at the 2026 SOLO Conference
I want to personally invite you to the annual 2026 SOLO Conference.
SOLO is a non-profit fighting for fairness in the Ontario rental market. They highlight many of the kinds of issues I faced when my abusive tenant exploited the system and ultimately destroyed my home in a fire. The entire story was chronicled in my book Rent to Ruin: The True Story of My Tenant Nightmare and picked up by CBC The National among other media outlets.
Weiting’s experience of losing $35,000 to non-paying tenants while growing a family highlights how small ‘mom and pop’ homeowners are too-often left out of the conversation of rental abuses. Becoming a housing provider is not always a straight line and when ‘professional’ tenants exploit the system in malicious ways; the results are often devastating to families.
I’m proud to be on the Board at SOLO working to further this cause of fairness; for everyone. That said, we try host a massive conference each year to connect with thought leaders and other housing providers. We took a year off, but we’re back and putting up an incredible lineup. This year’s theme is “The future of rental housing.”
CWL is thrilled to present Weiting’s keynote speech at the conference. She’s a dynamic leader and one of the best speakers out there. Her appearance at our 2024 conference was a masterclass in being engaging while also entertaining. She has amassed so many incredible stories, not the least o which is her own. And, the kind of statistics that Openroom has accumulated over the years is truly staggering.
Weiting and co-founder Vishal created Openroom as a disruptive platform for accountability and a rental ecosystem equalizer. Their work to bring the right kind of data to the people that need it most has overcome a ton of technology challenges in an environment filled with those struggling for kind of help. Being able to screen prospective tenants and landlords is just the beginning. In her session she is going to talk about “How an Army of Landlords Changed the Rules of the Game.”
