Can We Be Protected From Internet Thieves?

Dan-3Today, I stumbled across a fascinating conversation on Facebook. This was on well-known disc jockey Dan Freeman’s profile as he discussed how disappointed he was that someone had modified and shared a picture he’d taken for his photography company name TDfoto (Facebook, Web) – without attributing  the source or giving him or TDfoto credit. Dan’s disappointment was evident when he decided to share (and post) this modified image and express his thoughts on sharing.

I thought, wow, this is interesting. What are Dan’s expectation of how the Internet works? Can people be protected from those who pilfer creations online?

Remix This, Argo

It’s been a while since the great web series Everything is a Remix was concluded. If you haven’t, you should still catch the four parts of that series. Truly amazing stuff only reinforced by those around us. Take the amazing actor-director Ben Affleck in an incredible interview at details.com, he says:

“The Friends of Eddie Coyle was a movie that I copied—well, copied, whatever, was inspired by—for The Town. The Verdict was the poster I had on the wall during Gone, Baby, Gone.”

You’re basically the sum of all the experiences you’ve ever had, and they’re sort of shaken up in you and reproduced in the things you create, and that includes seeing movies. And I think you’re made better by watching the masters, that’s for sure.”

His newest movie, Argo, is released Oct 12.
