Imagine being lured into a website with promises of golden shores, beautiful sunsets and wonderful coastlines. There are convenient flights and an ultra-smooth booking process. But, the people running this site know they’re getting your cash and once they have it, you’ll never get it back.
Flying to the archipelago of the Azores landed me square in the sights of Azores Airlines (a new brand flying under SATA). Their logo includes a whale fin and planes are adorned with a full-sized whale sticker. For good reason as Azores is the largest whale sanctuary in the world. Booking this flight deal on Expedia, I had never really heard of SATA before this trip. I’ll break down my experiences, flight costs, and let you know what I thought of this particular airline.
While in the Dominican Republic I made it my personal mission to gain data access on my smartphone. Over the years, this process has become easier as the companies have accommodated smartphone users. With an unlocked smartphone, you can get reliable and useful pre-paid cell phone and data access in the Dominican. I’ve learned a few things along the way that you’ll want to know if you plan to do this.
I travelled with WOW air from Toronto (YYZ) Canada to Keflavik (KEF) Iceland from November 23rd, 2016 to November 30th, 2016. The trip included a number of purchased amenities and a flight change. What follows are my experiences with this new-ish low-cost airline.
Whether for business or pleasure, you won’t find it hard to get travel tips from others. But, often the really important “in-transit” knowledge is skipped because we’re resigned to it being painful. I’ve probably travelled more than a million miles to some amazing places in all kinds of vehicles, and no matter how or where I go, I’ve learned there are always some basic things that would improve a trip. I want to share these 7 tips with you. These are distilled from a wealth of mistakes and a desire to learn and be better.
Flying is painful. The long waits. The difficult and intrusive security. The cramped feeling on flights. The nickle-and-diming checked bags. Now, this insanity is going to ratchet up to a new class of ticket below economy named “basic economy”. This new class of ticket appears to be finding widespread adoption among airlines, with United setting new lows. If your last class ticket is with United expect no chance at seat selection, no access to the overhead bin, and be forced to board the plane last.
It’s a new CONTEST! This time, I’m giving away a small travel pack that includes a portable luggage scale and a measuring tape. Enter here.
I am highly interested in the state of Internet access in the towns and cities I travel too. One such location that I often find myself in is Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Every time I return, the options improve- sometimes in major ways. Here’s how my recent trip in December 2011 went connection-wise.
Using an unlocked GSM cell phone. I’ve known this was possible for some time, but I had not really attempted to do it. When I recently purchased a Blackberry Bold smartphone unlocked, I planned to attempt local roaming of data instead of using Rogers for this purpose.
